If you're a Francophile like me, then anything French makes you swoon. I was at the very end of finishing one of the best online registered nursing programs from an accredited online school. The prospect of joining one of the online graduate nursing programs left me wanting to celebrate with a party that was Parisian all the way. Join me as I set the table, pick the perfect wine and prepare the perfect entrée with savoir-faire!
Planning the perfect French party does not have to be expensive. The French theme is so versatile that your imagination is what you will spend the most of. The other thing to keep in mind is that French does not mean stuffy or froufrou, eating bistro style is probably what comes to mind when you think about entertaining the French way.

Put on some Edith Piaf as you go about choosing the perfect French wine that would have your guests in the holiday spirit ready to let loose. French wine does not need to be pricey either. A good Cabernet or Sauvignon Blanc can be had for less than $15 each. If you don't want to spend that much then Robert Mondavi will work just fine. You can't have a French party without candles. Make sure you stick to one color though and vary the heights by placing them on different objects at your table. For instance a stack of books, different candle sticks, or even inverted thrift store teacups can make great candle stands.
This is not the place to scrimp so bring out your best wine glasses. If not now then when? If you don't have any however, 711s carries inexpensive albeit flimsy wineglasses. Any table setting be it French or Vietnamese should always begin with a flower arrangement. This again does not have to be expensive. Stepping out into your yard for whatever flowers are in season or even just snipping off a few twigs stuffed into a generous vase will do the trick. Oh and don't forget the tablecloth – anything white and steam ironed will do. There is no compromising on a basic white tablecloth.
If you ever walked past a French bistro, I'm sure you've noticed a blackboard with the menu written to entice passer-bys. Here's your chance to do the same thing: write out your menu to get them just a little hint of what's coming. While a chicken Cordon Bleu or a bouillabaisse sounds like the perfect choice, you don't have to slave over the stove all day to throw a French party. A simple coq-au-vin with a side of haricots verts and salade La frisee which is an endive salad will work just fine.
For dessert, store-bought French pastries are the only way to go. Don't forget the appetizers! Any great ficelles served with Camembert and Brie will blow your guests away. Profitez de votre dîner!
