I thought that most people would know what to wear on a first date. My friend is so smart; she's attending University of Phoenix. Talking with her she said that she has a first date this week and has no idea what to wear. I asked what the activities are going to include and she said dinner and shopping in downtown. We scavenged through her closet and found an outfit. She settled on a pair of jeans with boots. She plans on wearing a knit black sweater with a scarf and her heavy winter coat. I reminded her of some tips for a first date because it's been awhile since she has been on a date.
Ladies:
- Don't wear too much makeup. Less allows your natural beauty to shine through. Same goes with jewelry too!
- Don't be too dramatic. Some girls let their minds wander too far. Remember it's only a first date, no commitments yet.
- Please don't drown yourself in perfume! A light spritz near your neck and your wrists is plenty.
- Refrain from playing with your hair. For some it is a nervous habit, but it is not attractive to watch a girl twirling her hair in her fingers.
- Don't over-analyze things! I am guilty of letting my mind wonder if he secretly has a wife and children at home, or if he has a legitimate job.
Guys:
- Please don't dress down like this is nothing. A first date is a big deal, so dress appropriately.
- Don't splash a whole bottle of cologne on, 3 spritzes is the maximum please.
- Save the poetry about your burning love for her beauty for another date. Don't make her feel too overwhelmed.
- Don't let your humor go too far. Light jokes are ok. Any that could possibly be offensive to her; you may want to keep to yourself.
- Keep your jealousy in check. You want to show her how much you care, but don't stalk her Facebook.
